Now we will select the eye area to change its Color, and to do that, and we have to select the object selection tool from the tool panel. We will use the Elliptical Marquee Tool from the object selection panel to select the iris part of our image. So after selecting the tool, we will start creating the selection by holding the spacebar. This will help us to reposition our selection later. 

If your image doesn’t have the full circle of the eye area, then you have to reshape it after completing the selection. 

Press Alt button for Windows or Option for mac Operating system  and take the cursor on minus icon next to it, using which you can deselect the portion you want and reshape the curve. Zoom in to select every corner or miss minor details, resulting in a bad-looking image of yours, so if you don’t want to miss any detail, zoom in and select every detail that your image has.

Step 3: Use Adjustment Layer and Hue/Saturation to Control Eye Color

Now we need to create a group where we will keep the both layers together so that when we change the hue and saturation it can affect both the layers and we get balanced color. Create a group, drag and drop the layers into the group. Add a level to the group and to do this click on the New Adjustment Layers icon and then select Levels and add it to the group as well. 

This level will control and modify the brightness and contrast by allowing us to touch up on the drop shadow, making Midtone, creating Highlight, and the Output Level sliders to get the desired effect

As we created a group and put all the layer masks in it, now we can control all of them at once. Now let’s bring perfection to the layer masks because if you zoom in and see carefully, then you will notice that after coloring them using hue and saturation settings, the color might affect the eyelashes as well. 

We will fix this by selecting the brush tool. Then select the Brush Tool and select the foreground color, if you want it as black. After that move the brush tool on the outside of the eye lens area. After we are satisfied with the painting using the brush tool now, we will press x on the keyboard, and the color of the background and foreground will switch. Paint again after the foreground color is white, and the area will come under the layer mask again.

Let say you have removed the background now, create a new layer from the layers panel and fill it with solid white color.

Step 3: Create Duplicate Layer to add drop shadow photoshop

Now create a duplicate of the product images layer so that when you work on your image, it doesn’t get ruined by any accident. To create a duplicate layer of your original image, press Ctrl+J.

Step 4: Change the color of the foreground

Drop shadow is created from the subject itself, so we have to fill the foreground color into black. To change the foreground color, click on the foreground and press Ctrl+X. The foreground color will change and turn into black, but you should do it manually if it doesn’t happen.

After making the foreground color black now, we will change the color of the duplicate layer. Select the duplicate layer and then press Shift+Alt+Delete. This will change the color into the black of the image.

Step 6: Create The Shadow

If you have followed my instruction till now, then you will have a black-colored duplicate layer. Now we will create drop shadows out of it. To do that, you will need a free transform technique by pressing Ctrl+t. 

This free transform will allow you to move the black portion anywhere you want. As we are going to add drop shadow, we will move the portion underneath the subject. 

So to do that, click on the top of the middle square and drag the image down and take it underneath the subject. This will act as a drop shadow.

After dragging the black image down, it will be in front of the original photo, but a drop shadow comes from underneath the subject. So to fix the position of the shadow, we have to bring the shadow underneath the issue. Now bring the duplicate layer under the original layer, and the shadow will be in the proper position.

The shadow we have will be harsh, so that we will add some motion blur. To add blur into the shadow, select the shadow layer and then go to Filter>Blur>Motion Blur. A window will pop up.

From the motion, blur window set the angle to 0 and set the distance according to your requirement, and then click OK to smooth the edges of the shadow. 

Now we will add some gaussian blur to it. Again go to Filter and from there, select the Gaussian Blur option. From the gaussian blur window, I will set the radius to 3. You can adjust it as per your requirement and click OK.

Step 1: Open Model Photography Image 

First things first, insert the image in the photoshop you want to work on. It can be any image, but for our today’s tutorial, I will use a model photography image, and I would suggest you start with that as well. By default, the image will be in the layer panel holding the name “Background.” The layer will be locked because it’s the original file, and if it wasn’t locked, anything goes wrong during the editing, and the original file will get destroyed. 

Pro Tip: After inserting a photo before you start editing, create a duplicate layer of it. For this tutorial, I named it Layer 1.

For our Photoshop clipping mask process, we require multiple layers on top of one another, creating another layer. The new layer option is on the bottom side of the layer panel. Please create a new layer from the new layer icon and place it right below layer 1 and name it Layer 2.

Now we don’t require the selection anymore as we have filled the selection area with color. So we will deselect it, and to do so, we have to go to the menu bar again and click on Select→ Deselect.

Select layer one, and from the menu bar, click on Layer→ Create Clipping Mask and Layer 1 will automatically become a clipping mask.
